Elena participated in the Training Course “Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL” organized by ASUL in Málaga area, Spain
For me, the project Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL was my second Erasmus Plus Project which took place in Malaga, Spain and it was more than I expected. Although it was a Training Course project which implies more theoretical information than practical, this one had an excellent way to combine the both ways.
The theoretical parts were transposed into practical activities through which the information was better understood and applied. I really liked the diversity of people regarding the culture, experience and lifestyle and their ideas and the fact that they shared their ideas, opinions and advice with us.

Hello guys! Can you give us your opinion about the project “Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL“?
In our opinion, the project was really interesting, challenging and fun. The topic and the context were new, but in the end, we learned new things, known new people of different nationalities and different culture, and it was fantastic. This is why we believe everyone should have an experience of this kind in their live.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the project?
During the project, thanks to the activities and presentations on the various topics related to Social Entrepreneurship, we learned a lot. Many of the things were new, but the topic was so interesting and current that learning was easier. In addition, games and group activities have allowed us to deepen the most important concepts. Two important concepts are those that: for young people, in Europe, there are many interesting possibilities that must be exploited to realize their projects and that to achieve something good, cooperation is important.

Hello Alexandra! Can you give us your opinion about the project „Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL“?
I am sure that I will recommend this training course everyone who is interested in Business and Social Entrepreneurship. I consider the project „Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL“, as very good organised, with a lot of different activities where we have the opportunity to learn new knowledge and information but also share our experiences and ideas.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the project?
We had interesting workshops and presentations where we learnt a lot about Social Entrepreneurship. We quite often worked in groups or teams what created more space for sharing our individual experiences and ideas. During this training, I also learnt a lot new about other cultures and people from different countries, other habits, tradition and etc. Working in teams have also improved our communication and presentation skills. During the whole project was very friendly and motivating atmosphere. I also met a lot of people from different organisations what is very useful for my work and it has opened also possibilities for future cooperation.

“Social Entrepreneurship for ALL” project was for me one of the best experience I have ever had. I had the opportunity to meet people with similar ideas as mine and to learn a lot of things about Social Entrepreneurship practice all over the world.
It was a very nice experience to be in different teams during the project, because I had the opportunity to know more not only about social entrepreneurship but also about people from different countries with different cultures than mine.
Social Entrepreneurship is nowadays the engine of improving society’s life, Social Entrepreneurship is not only about making profit but also about having an ideal, more important than what you can gain from business. It is about your ethic to find your sense in life and to make it count.

Hello Debora! Can you give us your opinion about the project “Social Entrepreneurship 4 ALL?
For me, the project was really great experience to learn new knowledge on the topic as well share good practices with the other participants. I think that the group was very interesting and balance. There were participants who already have their own social enterprises as well youngsters interested to open their new social businesses. All team building and group activities were really productive since we could learn from each other and discuss in details different aspects related to social entrepreneurship. In addition, the intercultural aspect of the training was very positive, since we had a chance to share more about our cultures, visions and beliefs.
Over the last several years, many EU countries have seen a rise in support for populist, nationalist, antiestablishment political parties. These parties are often termed “Eurosceptic” because many have also been fuelled by worries that too much national sovereignty has been relinquished to Brussels. Although not a completely new phenomenon in the EU, the recent uptick in support for such parties largely began in response to Europe’s economic stagnation, refugees crisis, austerity measures, and the eurozone crisis. Increasingly, however, heightened fears about immigration and the sizeable migrant and refugee flows appear to be driving rising poll numbers for populist and/or Eurosceptic parties, especially those that harbor anti-immigrant sentiments.
As member states fall into the hands of Eurosceptic and nationalist parties, for many the future of the Union seems hopeless. People are disillusioned, failing to see the added value in the community of nations they once voted to join. Institutions are struggling, unable to regain their citizens’ trust, or even to reach them at all. Consequently, the EU is facing its biggest threat in its history, a crisis of European identity.
In order to overcame this threat, European leaders have decided to meet on 17 November 2017 in Gothenburg to discuss the future role of education and culture in strengthening the European Identity, the sense of belonging together and being part of a cultural community. According to EU leaders, education and culture have to play a pivotal role for people to know better each other across borders, and experience and be aware of what it means to be “European”. Moreover, a common vision (also called vision for 2025) coming out from this meeting is a Europe in which people have a strong sense of their identity as Europeans.
Considering all this, the main aim of “EUnique identity” is to strength the sense of belonging together and equip youth workers with competences and methods needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society in their local context.
The project will involve 24 youth workers/youth leaders, with no age limit. Socially active youth workers with a role in local communities and interested in promoting EU initiatives, EU common identity and sharing of EU values in their local contexts.
The project methodology will be based on non-formal education (NFE) methods, valorising the knowledge and experiences of the participants. Methods will include inputs, working groups, exercises, debriefing, ice breakers, energizers, reflection groups and working into intercultural subgroups and facilitated discussion.
The financial crisis of 2008 devastated national economies around the world. European countries are still recovering. But the spotlight is only now beginning to shine on one issue that could fracture national economies again, the youth unemployment crisis. Many 15- to 24-year-olds are struggling to find jobs, to further their education and to cope with a new world order in which they perceive they have no role.
Indeed, while the Eurozone overall unemployment rate came in at 8.9% for September 2017, the lowest rate since February 2009, the region’s youth unemployment for those aged 15-24 remains high. According to recent Eurostat data, 3.722 million young persons (under 25) were unemployed in 2017 in the EU28, a decrease of 380,000 as compared with October 2016. The lowest youth unemployment rates were observed in Germany (6.6 %) and the Czech Republic (7,2 %), while the highest were recorded in Greece (40.2 % in August 2017), Spain (38.2 %) and Italy (34.7 %). These figures demonstrate that youth unemployment still remains high across the EU.
The changes in the world economy and technologies together with globalisation and society development strongly influence on a labour market. There is no anymore “job for life”, the industrial and physical work is becoming less needed giving the way to creativity-focused professions and due to high competition in business sector and economic problems employers are looking for already educated, experienced, flexible and creative employees. In turn it influences on the youth unemployment. At this stage entrepreneurship and in particular social entrepreneurship can become an effective way to confront the problem. It is how young people can get needed experience, become responsible and create their own jobs. NGOs can help young people to develop employability skills and involve them into entrepreneurship. At the same time NGOs also can benefit a lot from learning social entrepreneurship as they also face with the different problems and cannot be sustainable. But there are not many NGOs which are competitive enough in the issue.
